Green River Fishing Report

July 14, 2003

Excellent hatches continue to keep the fishing on the Green River productive. While we still believe the best is yet to come, large trout are taking dry flies with some regularity.

Grey Drakes, Green Drakes, Pale Morning Duns (and spinners), Yellow Sallies and multitudes of caddis have been the dominant hatches. Hoppers are not yet a big factor but should be coming on fairly soon.

Parachute Hare’s Ear and PMD’s, Stimulators (yellow, size 14-10), Elk Hair Caddis, Schroeder’s Para Stone, and Tarantulas (during non-hatch periods) will all have their moments during the day. Be sure to keep tabs on which hatch is most predominant during any given time period and adjust your pattern accordingly. You’ll catch bigger trout if you keep up with what is happening at the moment as it is continually changing throughout the day.

Until next time...
