Yellowstone National Park Fishing Report

April 10, 2004

As with all of the Yellowstone area, Yellowstone National Park went into March with a fairly good snow pack. We saw very little precipitation in March and extremely mild weather conditions. The combination of these events has dropped the snow pack considerably. The snow pack for the Upper Yellowstone Plateau is currently at 72%. Last year, April and May were very wet and cold and that is exactly what we need again this year. If the existing weather pattern stays in place we will be anticipating another low water season again this year in Yellowstone. Rivers will clear earlier and hatches will be ahead of schedule. We will keep you up-dated as the spring season progresses.

As always, fishing in Yellowstone will open on Memorial Day weekend.

Good Fishing,

Howard Cole
